IRRI Micromodules

Climate Smart Rice Micromodule (MMCSR101)

Description
Rice is globally recognized as a major food crop. It serves as the main source of calories for more than half of the world’s 7 billion people. However, rice production has adversely been affected by various abiotic stresses that are progressively worsening with climate change, especially drought, flooding, salinity, and other soil problems, heat, and cold prevailing in most rice ecosystems.
Due to innovations in plant breeding, IRRI developed rice varieties for areas affected by abiotic stresses. We call these: stress-tolerant rice varieties (STRV) or climate-smart rice!

In this micromodule, you will learn about stress-tolerant rice varieties (STRV) or climate-smart rice!
